Have you seen what is happening in Port Chester? Port Chester borders both Connecticut’s affluent town of Greenwich and the neighboring posh community of Rye. It is just off of all the major highways. Port Chester, NY is definitely on the cusp of something... and has been for a few years. There is a culinary spotlight on this Westchester town-and rightfully so. The latest restaurant to take center-stage is Il Sogno. A transplant from New York City, where it spent several successful years in mid-town, Il Sogno is already attracting the different peoples from the aforementioned surrounding towns and they seem to be spread-ing the word of the cozy, homey, familiar-feeling restaurant . Il Sogno resides in the heart of Port Chester, located in the spaced formerly inhabited by Pacifico. Il Sogno creator Jimmy Resulbegu brings the restaurant’s nouvelle style of Italian and Mediterranean cuisines based on the foods of Tuscany and Campagna. Specialties from the Il Sogno menu include the Risotto with Cream of White Truffles in a Parmesan Crust, the Baked Mediterranean Bronzino, and the Chicken Martini. The restaurant also offers a variety of home-made pastas and a fantastic Dry-Aged Sirloin. Il Sogno’s seasonally changing menu sees about 1,200 dishes over the course of the year. However, the restaurant doesn’t stop there-in their effort to accommodate every guest that steps through the door, Il Sogno will even take (most) requests from the dining room floor for dishes not seen on the menu. Il Sogno has opened with a very impressive wine list for a new restaurant-over 200 labels; mostly from Italy with a few well-chosen California bottles. Like the regular menu, the prices are kept relatively low. There is also a full bar with a great Grappas and Moscato selection.
